Onnenkieli Language School

1A: Onnenkieli 11.00
1B: Onnenkieli 12.30
Duration approx. 2,5 hrs

Õnne Kankainen – Managing Director: "What I like about Suggestopedia: The joy of teaching and learning, interaction involving everyone, good results."

Suggestopedic teaching is a holistic method of teaching, which allows the student's whole person to be active, happy and liberated, giving the best conditions for each to learn at his/her own pace. Good results are based on the student being active and happy in the class. This is how the brain's subconscious resources can be used more effectively.

Onnenkieli Oy methods are based on Galina Kitaigorodskaja´s method. Õnne Kankainen prepared her unique teaching package "Language is life!" on a functional holistic basis. Teaching and learning processes work together in interactive exercises, with the objective of providing the student with the necessary skills for coping in both domestic and professional situations, whether it is in speech or in writing.

Our courses: Finnish for jobseekers: The beginners´ course is intended for immigrants who speak no Finnish at all, or who have learned to some extent. The course involves interactive role-play with realistic scenarios reflecting everyday situations.

Finnish for immigrant workers: The intermediate course is intended for immigrants capable of studying at an intermediate level. The course objective is to acquire the proficiency to use Finnish in order to cope with situations in domestic or professional life. The course includes 4 weeks of work-related experience.

"Language is Life" -suggestopedic learning package devised by Õnne Kankainen: This package was chosen as the winner of the Education Ministry´s Adult Education award in 2002. The full course has 2 components.

For beginners: The introductory course aims to provide the students with the ability to communicate in everyday situations, to compose short but meaningful text and to understand the main points of larger texts. The final course test is graded using universally recognised grading standards used to assess language capabilities.

The intermediate course: Aims to give students additional skills for functioning effectively in various everyday situations, to be able to communicate confidently and write when necessary. The course includes 4 weeks of work-related experience.

Wagtail – migratory bird

The wagtail is the provincial bird of the Tampere Region

Wagtails are small birds with long tails which they wag frequently. Wagtails are slender, often colourful, ground-feeding insectivores of open country in the Old World. They are ground nesters, laying up to six speckled eggs at a time. Among their most conspicuous behaviours is a near constant tail wagging, a trait that has given the birds their common name.
